Morning was beautiful ... heck regardless of the weather ... this was going to be great simply because I am still pumped up from last night's session with the Gunn Master. Imagine: finally having a successful businessman/ chairman/ director listening to me crap and babble along ... and both of us just tossing around ideas for the future ... be it in Malaysia or China or Indonesia ... now that is long hours but happy long hours not stress of staring at numbers and trying to out-think some people i.e. politicking ... ugh I hate office politics, don't you?
Anyway, let's get back to another morning of porky breakfasts ... then it was to the lobby and piling into the van for our trip around Bangkok where good old Mr Putih joined us and we covered the other 2 Avanis (bleurgh generally but here and there were sparks of brilliance) before we culminate with their best properties: St Regis and Four Seasons. Of course, Putih was saying that the $$$ is not so great from them unlike they doing it themselves but hey! Don't trash the product. Look at how great theirs is and that's why it costs more to maintain ... the properties challenge is probably due to Thai's uncertain economy thus there is still money to be made but not for the uppercrust travelling ... hence that market is shrinking while the middle income potential for 5-star is huge ... don't get me wrong, I enjoyed my Riverside but the lobby of Four Seasons ... wow! The lobby of the Ritz? Wow!
And we had a nice stroll through the rooms/ villa/ units and restaurants and everything is so tempting. Best part of all? The Gunn even stopped at FS retail shop for handicrafts (as in super-ex) and checked out catalogue comparing prices of items and saying what he is interested and what he has at home already! Hehehehehehehe!
After all that? It was time for a meal. The Gunn is far more simple and he said he will just go along with us. It's just that everyone who surrounds him makes it look like they wanna impress him and they all have their own agendas. Like you can see how obvious they wanna eat at the Ritz just because at the other hotels, this was recommended. So we went to Zuma ... it was nice, and apparently lunch prices are like huge discounts off their normal prices and the portions are big. So all in lunch was a success
We released the van that was on hold for us. And took train and ferry and the Gunn enjoyed it too. See? They should all learn to treat him a little bit more normally. It is nice to have luxury but when time permits, it is equally nice to sample the other side of life. After all, he is no prima donna European fashionista/ mogul type
Everyone then did massage treatments and at night, it was free n easy. The Gunn and Red Man took the ferry for rides, then had a meal at the hotel while the rest of us did the Food Court followed by mad dash for shopping
Was today a good day? Heck yeah!
