[While you know I loved movies and photos of uniform folks getting the tar beaten out of them - don't know why actually but I do - this doesn't do it for me because of the cartoony style - and anyway the publisher didn't survive so back issues are rare and expensive]

Or specifically the Malaysian workforce ... I am beginning to wake up to the fact that while the average salary is increasing ... the skills are not matching ... there must be something wrong in either our education system or parenting ... all these young people with not the ability to produce half-decent work ... and the attitude ... and the mental ability to think and analyze


Indonesia seems to have a bigger pool ... from my one interview ... 2 were decent ... from the next interview ... another 1 out of 2 ... here nary a one that interests me in anyway ... except taking by force

Wow talk about reading someone's character from the tone of email. I was busy yesterday rushing for work etc and to my surprise, a near bald chap came up and introduced himself as Wills from SGC. As he was standing there, I had no choice but to entertain him

And right off the bad, he gave you his full lady-boy-bitchiness by asking all sorts of really prying questions about the company, the problems, etc. At first I tried to be polite and skirted some of the issues but he kept on at it ... and since I am not big on lying anymore ... in the end I knocked a few pegs off him ... he was that irritating

To make it worse, around 6:15pm when I went downstairs, I ran into Dan and he intro me to Ng. That was normal. What was worse when Wills came rounding corner and literally clutching a Gucci lady-bag under his armpit! Damn! He wanted to wave and come over but saw we all gave him a stare and ignored him. So he walked past ...

But the good point is we had a lovely dinner at Perahu - the final restaurant I have not tried. Prices are reasonable. We ordered a lot. 3 drinks (bloody expensive). 2 desserts as starters. 2 starters. 2 side dishes. 3 nasi lemak. 1 main course. 1 grilled platter with 2 items. Hehehehe! But it was yummilicious!

Ad & Aid ... for Eid? Hahaha

[And now we spotlighted an odd comic called Zero Girl from DC Vertigo ... what do I like? Nothing except the covers by Sam Keith ... you can see where he is going from here until his turn with Image's Maxx and the various Hulk/ Wolverine works]

I paced myself in terms of food ... because I was going to entertain Ad ... unfortunately thanks to the usual bad traffic from KL ... he and the family arrived nearly 8:00pm and they chose the Ramadhan buffet ...

Food is lovely ... they upgraded the varieties because of the owners' entertainment for the day ... we actually had fresh oysters and slipper lobsters! So while the food is good n the company is great ... I couldn't wolf down ... as the bosses were around ... and I ended up with a platter of fried rice .... hahahaha

[And now from Image's supposedly toughest bitch who weirdly always seemed to end up in trouble and you have to wonder how she survived the centuries - Zealot - here's looking at you, girl]

We had a walk around the resort as per usual ... and as per usual ... the staff at Perahu n Stimboat were an embarassment choosing to close early and sitting around chatting away n looking uncomfortable when we walked up ...

Other than that, Ad's boy looked so glum ... apparently he rarely smiled ... while the daughter is chatty n not the slightest bit shy! She can be potential heartbreaker in time to come

[Today we are introducing Zatanna, magical superheroine from the DCU who most of the times dresses as a stage performer in tall hat and fish nets ... uhmmm ....]

What a day it has been! First up, we had the usual tension from Lady Canton #3. She messaged that she would be late as she was still in KL. It's a strange place to work where staff show up whenever they feel like it and that they seem to have no sense of obligation to the place that gives them a living!

Then we had a session with WOJ look-a-like updating me on the brawl of JJ and loud-mouth PM! Apparently both filed police reports - wowza but may now retract!

As if that wasn't enough, Chef came to me and shared that both HRD Chinese ladies had tendered with Payroll first and her successor next! Apparently it is due to first lady! I called Win-win ... she confirmed ... but said she had already pulled back when she found out first lady had resigned. Then I spoke to Payroll ... she said she had already accepted another offer. So sad because she was such a hardworker!

Finally, I saw Elaine Peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ... she is here for an interview and she came with mom and brothers. That was a surprise because the mom looked so aged from the last time we saw her! What a few years can do a senior, eh?

So was it an eventful day? Hehehehehe! Welcome to my world. BTW note the restraint that I am practising. I am not savaging anyone here

First Owner's Meeting ... and a Betrayal?

[Comic 1 is old 70s Black Goliath ... I bought one issue of this ... it ended less than 6 issues I think ... so you know it sucked!]


Today is the day we are to have the owners' meeting. Darr, owner rep, is away to Singapore. Yesterday when I "double" confirmed with PP, my GM, he said that my role is introductory because he had been asked to present us whenever there is some new Excom. I asked anything to prepare. He said no. I just say HI and BYE


Guess what? He started by saying I will run through the numbers for him! What was that all about? Good thing I went through the numbers one more time in the morning before our meeting so I roughly know what I wanted to say if it was me presenting


Not a nice feeling I tell you ... and I kept on checking with him ... whenever the Owner's had a question to make sure when I reply, I was not offending him!

After the meeting, I attended the IT session ... then lunch ... then back in my office sometime in the afternoon came Dan Dan, the GFC or CFO of HQ. He spoke to me at length about the challenges and what happened. When we went through some stuff, he said that when I finished the stuff at the hotel, maybe I can move down to Head Office ... but checked himself at once ... and said no promises ... if there is vacancy. Of course, that I understand, right?


But still ... between him and Darren and Vivian ... keeping my fingers crossed here!


Other than that, we had a makan session at Olio for Cass's b-day as he is off the next day ... it was quite fun with the usual joking around

And the fun never stops ...

The comics are back and I am going to have to back post for the past 10 days ... why? Internet connection. My room was without connection for a looooooong while ... wireless and cable both didn't work ... then even the office cable didn't work


But since it is back last night ... I better start ... so the comics. Battlebooks. I have no idea what's in the contents as I have never purchased them but the artwork is ... interesting? Look at all the lines. The costumes must be painted on the heroes, eh? Hah!


Workwise ... nothing major happened ... the usual slew of meetings and negative people in both my dept and HRD ... hope to overcome my dept by end of the month or early next ... and HRD hope the new boss is nicer coming end Sep or early Oct!


About the only other thing worth mentioning is PP came and said that while he is away to keep an eye on things and to be at the resort when the no 2 is having his off day.


Not a big deal, eh? Since I am still in-house and will remain in-house until he gets back. Only weekends I am not around.


A bit tense because tomorrow I am meeting the big boss of the company. Sure hope all goes well!

Do I want to bitch? Sam Sam Sam? Nah. Forget it. Wong Wong Wong? Nah. Forget it. Wow! I am not myself today, eh?

Something odd ...

Here are some covers from really old comics that I think looks cool - very ... tacky? But nice all the same.


Today started off very badly ... in the sense that it continued from yesterday unabated as I was hit by round after round of diarhea ... running to the toilet between 1:00am and 7:00am ... maybe 4 to 6 times ... soI barely slept at all and have to crawl out of bed to go to office


As if that wasn't the worse, we have tons of meeting scheduled including a surprise during lunch ... where the Sr VP Mr. Wong came to meet his people ... and they want me to sit in!


So without much of a breakfast or any lunch, I was literally starving!!!!!!!!!


But at least it went well and he is one of the faces I will be meeting on Thursday. So that's another one down!

Aside from that, we have a new staff (a Miss Chua hehehehhe). She seemed nice enough and hoped she will fit in with the team.

Other than that, dinner was in Sg Pelek ... at a western mix restaurant called Olio. It was nice and clean and have high quality products for its drinks - same cordials as Starbucks!

I had chicken maryland (not bad) and a caramel frap (a welcome after all day of near starvation and stomach upset!
