Went to A&W with Suefern and LP. Tom's (handwriting is kinda bad) gotten a place in USM's Perak campus. Course in Electrical Engineering. He's rather glad he didn't get the Medical stuff cos that was his parents' choice.

Called up SweeYeen. Her last month in Malaysia is July. After which, she'll fly to New York for a year. She also mentioned that she has been to LA a while back. I said that I'll try to drop by KL if she can't make it out to PG and she said that that's so sweet. Hmmmm ..... Anyway she'll call my house if she's gonna be in Penang.

[NOTE: First paragraph deleted]

Went to a late dinner with SF. She told me about her plans to further her studies abroad. Her boyfriend can come up with the finances. Unforch, her parents are putting her on a guilt trip saying she should spend more time with the family as once she is married, she'll live away from home

We went through the whole gamut of issues, from parent and child - the generation gap, to other family, friend and relatives, finances, sexist issue and ultimately, the big picture scene i.e. how she'd feel now and in the years to come as oppose to her parents' feelings?

[NOTE: New Comments: I think the above must be when I was working in Alor Setar]

Dad came back at 10:00pm. The lady in question, Shirley, got a lift from another couple. Apparently, dad suggested it. So, mom advised him in a neutral tone about such things. We kept things light. He agreed with her without any strong opposition. So that's good

Went to Swenson's for the ice-cream buffet. Had 10 ice-creams along with K (AA) and A (AA) but KP beat us all with 15 and she was tempted with another 5 but was shy to do so. Silly! We were encouraging her too. I went with A and came back with K. It was LC's birthday. For the first time, an auditor, KY joined us

(Additional new remark: KY is CKY and he is such a cutie! I don't remember much about his background except that he is thin, tanned, wears glasses, talks fast but like an everyman and loves comics too. Unfortunately for me, he has this beautiful girl also in audit. Sigh!)

Followed L (Money) back. Mom's in a worried state. Jealousy. She said she didn't like the idea of dad giving single, old ladies a lift. Apparently, there were a few incidents where dad told her everything except the lift-company. She was fuming mad and thinking that dad may be (a) gatal; (b) the other lady is gatal. She said she's gonna give him an ultimatum

Went out with Chilli Sauce S, WY (his other half) and A (papa's precious) for dinner at McCallister Road - the crab place. The lamb chops were awful. Then we ended up at Cathay and caught Mel Gibson's Braveheart. It was quite long at approx. 3 hours after censorship. Good story, though the pacing could have been tightened a bit more. The kid who played young William Wallace was brilliant; and cute. Gibson's accent was absolutely atrocious unless of course he was projecting himself as a learned man. It's really touching at the end when the executioner lopped off his head. The most beautiful lass in the story has to be the French-born queen. What poise!

Took some time off in the morning and went to the ancestral shrine at Ayer Itam. It's the 49th day after my maternal grandpa passed away to the next life. Chinese tradition commemorates the 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th week after that day with prayers. The temple nuns came and did some chanting, the photo was inserted and the marble slab to be fixed

In the evening, we went to E&O Hotel for dinner. Food was okay but the dessert sucks. Worse still, the captain (maitre'd?) gave us a tale that was already occupied. Hah! Lucky thing that was sorted out quick enough. Missed the X-files though!

However, I managed to catch the Combat Movies. It was real weird. There wasn't any real heroes or villains that I could identify and one really can't relate or empathise with the movie with its very brief sequence of scene switching. Most memorable scene would be where the Allies thought they were ambushing the Germans. They bombed the motorcycle patrol and shot the driver and his companion in the truck. After which, they shot the back door lock open and dragged out an obstinate but terrified soldier. He looked kinda young and smart in the uniform. The Allies then rescued a lady in the truck. Only when they removed her gag, she warned them it was a trap. A truckload of Germans came then and shot everyone. There was another fight scene that was quite good, too, at the railroads.

PEACE ..... PEACE ..... PEACE.
